Enter Operation Diva Storm. With every eye roll, sigh, tantrum, and scream, I have moved the little diva to a corner and let her calm it down. Our pediatrician says that she's exhibiting school-age behaviors. That she's asserting herself and attempting to push boundries. But that we must be strong and consistent. So like any good soldier, I hold my position no matter how fatigued I am. And let me tell you - this kid is like the Energizer Bunny.
Of course there will likely be a ceasefire over Christmas as I'm sure Maddie would rather play with her toys than sit in the corner. But I do see some improvements. We count and use the corner to curb her behaviors and it's working. But every once in a while, she pulls a surprise attack: a tantrum in Michaels or screech at her older brother. But we will learn to peacefully co-exist. This is a long term occupation.
And besides.. she's so danged cute! ;)
